Bourbon Caramel Sauce

u003cpu003eA sweet-but-savory caramel sauce designed for meats, featuring perfectly balanced flavors of Bourbon, Dijon and pure vanilla extract. This sauce goes great on ribs, New York strip steak, chicken breast and salmon. We paired this sauce with smoked pork chops and poured the sauce over the chops fresh off the grill. Ingredients
  

  • 4 tbsp (½ stick) butter
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Bourbon
  • 1 tsp Frontier Co-op® Organic Pure Vanilla Extract

Method
 

  1. In a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; add onions and cook for 5 minutes, until onions are fragrant and translucent.
  2. Reduce heat, whisk in brown sugar and cook, whisking, for 2 minutes.
  3. Add Dijon, Bourbon and vanilla, whisking continuously, until sauce is combined and warmed through.
  4. Remove from heat and pour over your favorite protein before serving.
