Ingredients
- For the Spiced Simple Syrup:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
6 Simply Organic® Whole Cloves
4 Simply Organic® Cinnamon Sticks
1/2 teaspoon Simply Organic® Ground Cardamom
- For the Sangria:
1 bottle (750 mL) dry red wine (such as Tempranillo, Rioja or Merlot)
1/4 cup brandy
1 orange, thinly sliced
1 red apple, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 lemon, thinly sliced
Simply Organic® Cinnamon Sticks, for garnish (optional)
Fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Make the Spiced Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, cloves, cinnamon sticks and cardamom. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring just until sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Strain through a fine mesh sieve.
- Make the Sangria: Into a large pitcher, add simple syrup, red wine, brandy, orange, apple and lemon, and stir well to combine.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight before serving. Optional: garnish each glass with a cinnamon stick and rosemary sprig.
