This Rosewater & Hibiscus Hydrating Facial Mist is a summer essential. Rosewater is known for its balancing and hydrating properties, while hibiscus adds antioxidants and a beautiful, subtle tint.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup dried organic rose petals
- 1 tablespoon dried organic hibiscus flowers
- 1.5 cups distilled water
- 5-10 drops frankincense or geranium essential oil (optional, for skin rejuvenation and scent)
- Small spray bottle (glass recommended)
Equipment:
- Saucepan
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Funnel
Instructions:
- Simmer Herbs: Place the dried rose petals and hibiscus flowers in a saucepan. Pour distilled water over them, ensuring they are fully submerged.
- Infuse: Bring the water to a gentle simmer over low heat. Do not boil. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the petals and flowers have largely lost their color and the water is tinted.
- Cool & Strain: Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely. Once cool, strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove all plant material.
- Add Essential Oil (Optional): If using, add the essential oil drops to the strained rose and hibiscus water.
- Bottle: Using a funnel, pour the facial mist into your clean spray bottle.
- Store: Store in the refrigerator for a refreshing spritz. It should last for about 1-2 weeks.
How to Use: Spritz liberally on your face throughout the day to refresh, hydrate, and set makeup.
