This recipe creates a soft, floral, and slightly sweet herbal bouquet designed for ultimate relaxation. The key is balancing the potent floral of Ylang-Ylang with the gentle, herbaceous notes of Lavender and Chamomile.

The Oils & Their Purpose

  • Lavender: The quintessential calming oil. Lavender is renowned for its ability to reduce anxiety, stress, and nervous tension. Its soft, fresh, and floral-herbaceous aroma is instantly soothing to the mind and body.
  • Roman Chamomile: The gentle soother. With a sweet, apple-like, and herbaceous scent, Roman Chamomile is one of the best oils for calming irritation, impatience, and anxiety. It is incredibly gentle and promotes a sense of peace and contentment.
  • Ylang-Ylang: The euphoric floral. Ylang-Ylang has a rich, sweet, and exotic floral aroma known to release negative emotions, reduce feelings of stress, and promote a sense of joy and deep relaxation. It has a powerful effect on the nervous system, helping to slow a rapid heartbeat and calm the mind.

The Recipe

For a standard 100-200 mL ultrasonic diffuser:

  • 3 drops Lavender
  • 2 drops Roman Chamomile
  • 1 drop Ylang-Ylang

Instructions:

  1. Fill your diffuser with cool, fresh water to the manufacturer’s recommended level.
  2. Add the drops of essential oil directly into the water.
  3. Turn on your diffuser and breathe deeply, allowing the peaceful aroma to quiet your mind.

Aromatic Profile

Expect a gentle and comforting floral fragrance. The familiar scent of Lavender provides a calming base, while the sweet, apple-like notes of Chamomile soften the blend. The single drop of Ylang-Ylang adds a touch of exotic sweetness that deepens the relaxation without overwhelming the senses.

When to Diffuse

Customization & Tips

  • Ylang-Ylang is a very potent oil. The single drop is intentional. If you are sensitive to strong florals, you may even want to dip a toothpick in the oil and swirl it in the diffuser water for a more subtle effect.
  • For a more herbaceous calm: Increase the Lavender to 4 drops.
  • For an extra gentle, sweet calm: Increase the Roman Chamomile to 3 drops.
  • Consider adding a drop of Bergamot if you want to introduce a hint of brightness to the blend while still promoting a calm and positive mood.
