Spice up your afternoon snack with these simple but flavorful (and fun!) apple nachos. You can customize the toppings as you’d like — chocolate chips or melted chocolate are both great options. Other topping ideas include dried cranberries, chopped nuts or slivered almonds, or hemp or chia seeds.

Ingredients

  • For the Spiced Nut Butter:
  • 1/3 cup creamy nut butter of choice (cashew, almond or peanut)

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon Simply Organic® Cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon Simply Organic® Ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon Simply Organic® Nutmeg

  • 1 pinch Simply Organic® Ground Cloves

  • For the Apple Nachos:
  • 3 Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced into wedges

  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut (optional)

Directions

  • In a medium bowl, add nut butter and coconut oil and heat in microwave for 15 to 30 seconds, until coconut oil is melted, or warm in a double boiler on the stove. Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves, and stir to combine.
  • In a large bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice until well coated. Arrange apples on a large plate or platter. Drizzle with spiced nut butter, then top with chocolate chips and coconut. Enjoy right away.

Notes

  • RECIPE TIPS
Sunflower seed butter can be used in place of the nut butter.
If using a smaller variety of apples, use 4 to 6 apples.
