Founded in 1993, GladRags is a small business with big ideas: to make cloth pads and menstrual cups go mainstream and empower menstruators everywhere.
GladRags creates high-quality reusable products rather than single-use disposable products that harm our planet. We ship our comfortable, thoughtfully-designed reusable menstrual products to customers all over the world — in recycled, recyclable, and/or biodegradable packaging, of course! GladRags is proud to make our products in the United States and to source materials from local and/or woman-owned suppliers whenever possible.
Since day one, we’ve been independently owned by women. GladRags is currently owned by Tracy Puhl, and is located in Portland, Oregon, which occupies the traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, Bands of the Chinook, and many other Tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Native American communities of the Pacific Northwest of the past, present, and future.
We create reusable menstrual products to help you reduce your impact on the planet. We are committed to integrating environmental and social justice into every aspect of how we do business. Using business as a force for good is why GladRags chose to become one of the first businesses in Oregon to pursue and receive accreditation as a certified legal Benefit Corporation.
We insist on a transparent and sustainable approach to business in every detail. We use local bike delivery to receive finished goods from our local sewing partner and put fabric scraps to good use in the community. We pay meticulous attention to waste reduction in every aspect of manufacturing, distribution, packaging, and office management. Anyone can access performance data about the social and environmental practices that stand behind our products through our public B Impact Report and our annual Benefit Report.
At the heart of the GladRags brand are our core values: inclusivity, curiosity, and positivity.
Inclusivity: We see, respect, and celebrate what makes each individual unique. We make reusable products for all menstruators. We are dedicated to educating ourselves about anti-racism and being actively anti-racist in our work. We strive to not just include but elevate voices that have been historically marginalized or oppressed.
Curiosity: We try new things, learn from them, and share our knowledge. We ask, “What if?” We welcome points of view that differ from our own and can teach us something new. We reflect on our own perspectives and ask ourselves why we hold them. We listen.
Positivity: We create opportunities for humor and fun. We assume the best in others. We do not shame ourselves or others for mistakes. We acknowledge when we fall short, and strive to do better next time.
